Abstract

637,912. Hooks. WELDING INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and ORCHARD, R. H. April 28, 1948, No. 11688. [Class 89 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] The hook for a manual hoist (see Group XXX) comprises a pair of metal strips 22, 23 spaced by pins 27, 26 passing through and welded to the strips and forming respectively an anchor for a rope 31 and an axle for a pulley wheel 24. At their lower ends the strips 22, 23 are bent to lie close together and are shaped to form a hook 29. A pivoted latch 30 prevents accidental disengagement of the hook, while a flattened metal ring 28 welded to the strips forms a keeper for the bight in the rope 31 passing around a groove 25 in the pulley 24.
