Abstract
850,804. Chain slings. GRAHAM, E. K. P. June 25, 1957 [June 29, 1956; April 30, 1957], No. 19972/57. Class 78 (4). Three or more chains or ropes &c. 1, 2, 3 each pass through a slip ring 4, 5, 6 terminating one of the other chains, so forming a sling. In the construction of Fig. 4 the chains are carried from a common suspension ring 10 and are confined by a chain 13 held captive by a portion of chain 14 terminating in a hook 15 secured to .the chain 2. Stoppers 7 limiting the extent to which the chains may pass through the rings 4, 5, 6 may be formed by enlarged links or by further rings, or may be adjustable along the chains. In the alternative construction of Fig. 5 the chains 1, 2, 3 are supported by rings 16, 17, 18 from further chains 19, 20, 21 connected at one end to a suspension ring 23 and at the other end connected either directly together or to a chain loop 22. The chains 1, 2, 3 may carry rubber members for engaging the load or portions of angle iron which can be slid along the chains to engage the corners of an article lifted. Means may be provided for adjusting the lengths of portions of the chain.
