Abstract

267,825. Jardine, J. Oct. 13, 1926. Jib cranes.-To ensure approximately horizontal travel, of the load in luffing, a compensating pulley J, Fig. 1, is carried on one arm of a lever C pivoted on the frame, the other arm being connected by a link D &c. with the jib, and the load rope is led from the hoisting drum E either directly or over a sheave H to a pulley I near the jib head and then in any desired number of falls over pulleys such as J on the lever C and I, K at the jib head. If the load rope F is passed round a load block and returned to the jib-head. it may be led one or more times round additional pulleys such as I, J. In a modification of this arrangement, Fig. 2, the hoisting rope F is led from the hoisting drum either directly or over the sheave H to a pulley K at the jib head, and thence round the load sheave L and one or more times round pulleys I, J.
