141,446. Armstrong, Whitworth, & Go., Sir W. G., and Souness, T. Feb. 5, 1919. Jib cranes.-Horizontal movement of the load during luffing is obtained by leading the hoisting-rope over sheaves K carried at the intersection of links G, E, which are pivoted respectively to a point H vertically above the jib pivot B and to a point D on the jib. The links, with the crane post and jib, form a parallelogram. The hoisting-rope is rove over one of the sheaves J at the jib head, then round a sheave K, from which it returns to the other sheave J, and thence passes over the second sheave K and a sheave on the crane post to the winding-drum P.
