Abstract

164,550. Dickson, W. March 24, 1920. Slings.-Slings comprising two loadengaging hooks, tongs, or dogs a threaded on a supporting - chain b are fitted with a ring d which falls by gravity when the chain is slack and locks the hooks in the engaged position. The ring g may be circular, o v al 8- shaped, or similar to one of the links of the chain b. It may also be provided with a U- shaped depending member d<1>, Fig. 2, passing under the horizontal run of the chain. The ring also may be used in cases where each hook is suspended by a separate chain instead of both hooks being threaded on a common chain.
