Abstract

533,584. Slings. HAYES, T. Aug. 15, 1939, No. 23517. [Class 78 (iv)] In slings of the type in which a flexible member passing round the load and forming a noose is engaged slidably with a second flexible suspension member, the two flexible members are connected so that they cannot become detached when in use. In one form the sling comprises a noose member 5 (Fig. 2) passing under the load and having an eye 7 at each end through which the second member 3 slides. The latter is connected to a triangular support 1 which can be tilted by hauling on the rope 14 and slackening the rope 13, to release the link 9 from the hook 2 to dump the load. The eye 6, which cannot pass either of the eyes 7, prevents detachment of the two members. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which eye 7 of the noose member 5 is connected directly to the part 3 of the other member, while the pull-chain 4 passes from the eye 7 through the other eye 8.
