Abstract

161,251. Mahon, R. F. H. Hartland-. Jan. 2, 1920. Hooks, slip.-A slip hook or coupling for chains, cables, ropes, &c., has a retaining member or ring made up of pivoted links with one of the pivot pins withdrawable to release the hook. In the construction shown, the hook or arm 3, coupling the chains 1, 2, is retained in the closed position by a clip embracing the chain and the hook member and made up of pivoted links 4, 5, 6. The pins 9 connecting the links 4, 6 can be withdrawn to release the hook. A stop 10 on the hook serves to prevent the clip from slipping off the hook, and an eye 11 on one of the links 5 may be connected to any suitable part to prevent loss of the clip.
