Abstract
612,734. Hooks. TRIGGS, W. W. (Yale & Towne.Manufacturing Co.). April 24, 1946, No. 12403. [Class 89 (ii)] Relates to hoists of the type described in U.S.A. Specifications 2,335,571 and 2,342,091, in which a sprocket-actuated lifting chain is employed and consists in so connecting the chain to the hook that kinking at this point is prevented. To this end, the cross-bar 15 of the yoke in which the hook block 19 is trunnioned at 21 is either integral with the yoke or so formed at 22 that pivoting of the bar in the yoke is prevented. As illustrated, the parts 22 are square in crosssection. The chain is pivoted to the crossbar at 14 about an axis at right-angles to that of the trunnions, the distance between the axes being at least two or three times that between consecutive pivots of the chain.
