Abstract

791,430. Lifting cradles. TEMPLEWOOD ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Nov. 13, 1956, No. 34656/56. Class 78 (4). A lifting fork similar to that of Specification 752,470 is controlled by a compression spring 13. In the construction illustrated two such springs are provided acting through pullrods 9, 15 so that the link 5 by which the fork 1 is normally suspended from a crane hook A takes up the configuration shown when the fork is unloaded. When, however, the fork is loaded the link 5 is moved against the bias of the springs 13 to the broken line position in which a stop 21 on the link engages a portion 22 of a box member 4 carried by the fork 1. This permits the fork to be substantially level when loaded and when unloaded: preferably the fork tips somewhat downwardly and forwardly when unloaded and somewhat downwardly and rearwardly when loaded. A handle 2 joins the two tines of the fork.
