The fork of a lift truck has an abutment 106 (Fig. 4), urged into engagement with members 105 on a container to be lifted to release a catch securing the container to its base as described in Specification 843,682. As shown, the abutment 106 is carried by a pair of spring steel members each projecting inwardly and forwardly from one of the vertical legs of the fork.
