Abstract
595,172. Lifting-dogs. WELDING INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and ORCHARD, R. H. Aug. 29, 1945, No. 22295. [Class 78(iv)] A load-holding device for articles such as a row of bricks 17 comprises bars 1, 9 having article engaging members 4, 10, respectively, the former of which is connected at its end by a pivot 6 to a lug 11 on the bar 9 between its ends. The lug 11 fits between a pair of plates 2 which are welded to the end of the bar 1. The device is lifted by a shackle passed through an aperture 14, Fig. 6, or by a bifurcated hook which engages bosses 12, Fig. 1, on each side of the bar. When a bifurcated hook is used, an upstanding tongue 13 is provided above the bosses. The bars may be locked automatically in the open position by the engagement of a hook 15 with a swinging stirrup 16.
