Abstract
637,381. Hoisting gear. ANSELL, JONES, & CO., Ltd., and ANSELL, F. E. Feb. 18, 1947, No. 4616. [Class 78 (v)] Hoisting tackle comprises a rope 33 which passes round an elevated fixedly-supported pulley 10 and which is connected to a load-supporting member 32 ; a hanging arm 15 which hangs from pulley block 10 or from its support and which carries a stud 17 ; and a downward disposed notch 24 (or hook) on the loadsupporting member, such that when the latter is raised the stud enters the hook and retains the member in its raised position. As shown, bars 15 pivot about axis 12 of pulleys 10 and are connected by stud 17, and notch 24 is cut into extension 19 of each of lower pulley blocks 18 and each trip lever 30 is pivoted at 27 on the block 18 to swing to the left till it abuts at 29 against member 32. When the load supporting member 32 is raised by a pull on the rope, the stud 17 on arm 15 engages surface 20 of pulley blocks 18 and swings to the left, then swings by gravity into notches 24 and supports the load when the rope is released. To lower the load, it is first slightly raised so that stud 17 is forced out over and then under trip lever 30, and then is lowered, the trip lever 30 pivoting upward and serving to prevent the stud 17 lodging in the notch 24.
