Abstract

870,839. Sack grabs. FOGDEN, T. Jan. 22, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1958], No. 37104/58. Class 78(4). As a sack grab is lowered into engagement with a sack a pad 7 abuts the sack and through a rod 6 lifts a cross-bar 8 out of engagement with plates 5 thus allowing jaws 4 to descend and grip the sack. The grab is attached to a tractor by an arm 15 of a loader, as described in Specification 863,270. As the grab is raised a cam 12 rotated about a pivot 14 by the arm 15 and a member 13 turns the cross-bar 8 in the direction of arrow F against a spring 10 until it drops behind plates 5. When the jaws 4 are relieved of weight, the spring 10 turns the cross-bar 8 which forces apart the plates 5 and opens the jaws 4.
