Abstract
634,697. Making dynamo-electric machines ; punching. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Oct. 9, 1947, No. 27171. Convention date, Oct. 12, 1946. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Method of making sheet iron cores for electric machines comprising providing insertions of non-magnetic material in holes 12 of the sheet iron strip 11 at such positions that after blanking out the core plates each will have its poles P connected by pieces 26, Fig. 2, of said non-magnetic material. The strip 11 has also holes 13 for registering the strip when blanking out. After assembling the plates to form cores 22 ... 24, windings 29 are placed thereon and the whole is surrounded by a yoke 27. In a two-pole machine, Figs. 3 and 4, the core plates are severed on lines 35 staggered alternately when assembled to form two packs which are rivetted at 36 and 38. After placing a winding 39 on the core part 31 the lower core part 37 is fitted therewith and the whole is clamped by end plates 41, 42 and screws 43, 44 and insulating washer 45. A crank-shaft 46 may be arranged near the rotor. The insertions may be of brass or phosphor bronze and be welded in the holes 13. These need not be round and may be so shaped that the connecting pieces 26 have dovetail ends to engage the pole-pieces. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that the insertions may be of stainless steel. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
