Abstract
714,677. Windings for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 10, 1951 [Dec. 8, 1950], No. 30111/50. Class 35 A " printed winding for a dynamoelectric machine rotor comprises a series of conductors mounted on an insulating sheet or tube which is either wrapped round or slid over the outer surface of therotary armature core. As shown in Fig. 1, an insulating sheet 10 carries conducting paths 11 on its upper side and 12 on its under side which are joined by spot-welding through the insulating sheet at points a, b, the latter being connected to commutator segments C. Alternatively, the two sets of conducting paths may be on separate insulating sheets placed together, or, in a further modification, Fig. 2, the axial conducting paths 11 may be on one insulating sheet 10 and the end connections 14, 15 on separate insulating strips 16, 17. Instead of spot-welding, the conductors may be soldered together over the edge of the insulating sheet and the conductors may have parallel extensions at one end to act as commutator segments. The conductors may be formed by printing with protective ink and etching or by stamping from copper foil. The conductors alone may rotate, the armature core being stationary.
