[Class 35] Machines with two or more armatures.- A dynamo - electric machine has two or more armatures c, c<1> arranged on a common shaft or in a common casing with a common commutator or slip-rings d, and a ring e, e<1> of electromagnets corresponding to each armature, the poles f, f<1> of adjacent rings being angularly displaced with respect to each other by 180‹/n where n is the number of poles ; the conductors b from one armature are carried directly into slots of the adjacent armature located at an angle of 180‹/n. The pole shoes g are of such circumferential width that when viewed in the axial direction they overlap. Additional iron cores may be arranged at the end surfaces of the armatures. Insulating rings hare disposed between adjacent stator yokes e, e<1>. The functions of rotor and stator may be interchanged.
