Abstract
677,956. A.C. motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 23, 1950 [Oct. 29, 1949], No. 25766/50. Class 35. A permanent magnet rotor for a motor has a radially polarized magnet surrounded by a laminated sleeve carrying a squirrel cage, the squirrel cage bars in the inter-polar regions being converted into short-circuited loops by plates at the ends of the rotor. As shown in Fig. 4, 21 are high resistance end-rings for squirrel cage conductors 20 in a laminated ring embracing a four-pole magnet. The conductors 20 in the region between the poles of the magnet are formed into separate short-circuited loops by the conducting plates 23 formed at each end of the rotor. In Fig. 6, segmental plates 25 in the inter-polar regions of a two-pole magnet engage conducting rings 26 which complete the loops for the squirrel cage bars which are directly connected electrically to the plates 25. All the conducting parts referred to may be formed by casting. Specifications 536,661 and 677,942 are referred to.
