Abstract
1,202,693. Electric motors. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 14 Sept., 1967 [17 Aug., 1966], No. 36870/66. Heading H2A. In a reluctance motor which is similar to that described in Specification 1,055,886 in having more stator poles than rotor polepieces, the squirrel-cage bars are crowded at the centres of these rotor pole-pieces. Thus, the stator 1 is wound for four poles while the rotor has, as shown, two salient poles 3, 4. The bars 5 are crowded or thicker at the centres of these poles. Each rotor pole acts as a bridge between adjacent stator poles, the working flux 2 thus encircling the concentration of conductors to give a good torque. The rotor poles may alternatively be in the form of circumferential segments. Specification 1,185,828 is referred to.
