Abstract

746,002. Core constructions for dynamoelectric machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. April 15, 1954 [April 15, 1953], No. 11169/54. Class 35. A dynamo-electric machine stator assembly comprises a number of elongated, spaced-apart, polepieces 2 defining a rotor bore 3, and a pair of end flanges 5, 6 formed of cast non-magnetic material, the flanges 5, 6 being integrally 'joined by cast non-magnetic material 7 filling the spaces between the pole-pieces 2. The polepieces 2 are curved transversely and preferably spiralled or skewed as in Fig. 2. The stator core is formed of poles 27 formed on the polepieces 2 and surrounded by a yoke 29 which engages the flanges 5, 6 as, e.g., by rivets 30. If desired, some of the cast material 7 joining the flanges 5, 6 may be omitted, namely so as not entirely to fill the spaces between the polepieces 2 although being sufficient to joint the flanges 5, 6 into an integral whole.
