Abstract

267,584. Suchostawer, D. Dec. 8, 1925. Rotary machines; cores.-Two wound armatures 6 and two unwound armatures 12 are arranged on a shaft 5 and co-operate with polepieces arranged as shown on a magnetic frame 4 and energized by windings 13, 17. The pairs of pole-pieces are arranged at 180‹ from each other. Each armature is arranged at 90‹ to the other armature of the pair. The armatures 6 are wound on slotted laminations 8, Fig. 3, the magnetic portions of the lamination being replaced throughout two opposite segments, each extending over a quarter of the circumference, by insulating material 9. The unwound armatures consist of bars of magnetic material arranged in quadrants on the ends of non- magnetic arms 11. The windings 13, 17 at each end of the frame are connected to each other and to distributers 19 so that when one winding of each pair is energized the other is cut off. Current is taken from the armatures 6 by sliprings 10 and may be employed to energize the windings.
