Abstract

672,316. Electric motors. GRAHAMFARISH, Ltd. March 22, 1950, [Jan. 4, 1950], No. 241/50. Class 35. The armature of a small permanent magnet motor has conducting rods c extending through the winding slots and held in position by the windings, the ends being used as commutator segments. The rods c may be placed at the bottom of the slots or may be inserted during the winding, the coil ends being connected to these bars in the usual manner. The brushes d which comprise strips, e.g. of copper, passed through slots in the end plates f and connected to leads g, may act axially or peripherally on the commutator. In a modification, not shown, a drum armature is wound circumferentially with iron wire in which the copper bars are secured, the normal windings then being wound between these bars. Alternatively the permanent magnet field member may revolve while the armature remains at rest.
