Abstract

Electromagnets.-In the electromagnetic device described in the parent Specification, the field-magnet coil is tapped instead of the armature, either field magnet or armature being arranged as the relatively fixed member of the device. As shown in Fig. 1, one end of a continuous winding carried by the movable armature 2 pivoted at 18 is connected to a point between the ends of the field coil 3, 3, the outer ends of the winding 3 being connected to the rotatable commutator segments 4, 5. An interpole 17 may be mounted on the field magnet to improve the starting torque. In an alternative arrangement, the armature may be fixed and the field magnet rotatably arranged.
