Abstract

Motors with unwound iron armatures. - In a device for actuating a windscreen cleaner comprising a wind vane mounted on the shaft of an electric motor, means are provided whereby the electric circuit of the motor is opened when the speed of the wind vane increases beyond the normal speed of the motor. As shown, a wind vane A is secured to the motor shaft which is in two parts B, C, the part C passing through pole pieces D carrying windings E, E<1>. The motor comprises a plate F in the form of a cross, with laminations at the extremities. Upon the shaft C is slidably mounted a ring H integral with a tapering member I the narrow portion of which is of square section. As the shaft C rotates, the member I normally acts in conjunction with a plate J to break the circuit of the motor at the contacts K four times during a revolution of the shaft. When, however, the wind vane A is actuated so as to increase the speed of the shaft C beyond its normal speed due to the motor, the ring H and the member I are drawn in a direction away from the plate J by means of centrifugally-acting weights G, so that the contacts K are maintained open until the speed decreases to normal.
