Abstract

Machines with two or more armatures. - An electric motor for the direct driving of machine tools consists of two axially displaced motor units arranged in one casing g in such a manner that the rotor b of one unit is fixed to the shaft a and its field magnet c is rotatable on the shaft and is fixed by means of its supporting drum d and an offset hub d<1> to the rotor e of the second unit, the field magnet f of which is fixed to the casing. The motor unit b, c may operate alone or in conjunction with unit e, f, and the windings can be arranged so as to enable speed changing to be effected, for example by varying the pole numbers. A manually or automatically operated brake h is provided for the drum d. In a modification, one motor unit is disposed coaxially around the other. Current is conducted to the motor units in this case through concentric flat slip-rings.
