Abstract

Machines with two or more armatures; dynamos, regulating; motors, controlling; cores and yokes.-A rotating member a additional to the armature c is introduced into the magnetic circuit of a dynamo or motor and bv its rotation in the magnetic flux passing through it produces eddy currents which tend to diminish the flux. The member a may be secured on the armature shaft, or it may be separately driven by another machine, the speed of which varies according to the voltage. The member. a and the adjacent periphery of the field magnet b may be provided with slots, tunnels, or windings. A portion only of the total flux of the machine may pass through the member a which may act as a brake to steady the speed. The invention is applicable to dynamos for motor-car lighting.
