Abstract

710,799. Dynamo-electric machine casings. KAISER, A. F. Feb. 18, 1952 [Feb. 16, 1951], No. 4184/52. Class 35 A small squirrelcage induction motor e.g. to drive toy locomotives has' a casing consisting of two cup-shaped end shields 9 each of which has a drawnin seating 12 to provide tracks for balls 13 running on the shaft 1. The balls 13 are held against axial movement by a sleeve 2 and a cover disc 14. Fig. 4 shows a modification, wherein the rotor indicated by the numeral 3<SP>1</SP> is external to the stator 7<SP>1</SP> which is mounted on a stationary shaft 1. A cord groove 22 is provided on one of the end shields 9 to enable the casing to serve as a pulley. Fig. 7 shows how the stator laminated core 7 is insulated at its sides and at its slots 17 by an insulating disc 25 having tubular extensions 26 adapted to enter the slots 17. The stator and rotor can be mounted side by side. It is stated that machine can be used as a synchronous motor or as a universal motor.
