Abstract

783,249. Electric motors. DICTAPHONE CORPORATION. March 26, 1956 [March 26, 1955], No. 9322/56. Class 35. A partition between the stator and rotor closes open stator slots and its ends engage shoulders on bearing cartridges which carry rings of resilient material by which the entire motor is supported. As shown, the cylinder 22 of sintered or other magnetic material closes the wide mouthed stator slots and supports the stator laminae so that a casing is not essential though the stator with its windings can be embedded in a compound such as epoxy resin. The rotor space is closed by rings 25, 26 which provide bearings for the shaft and engage motor supports with resilient rings 27 intervening. One of the end rings can embody gearing. The cylinder may enclose two squirrelcage rotors and support two stators wound for the same or different pole numbers to give choice of two speeds or power outputs.
