Abstract

228,316. Villiers Engineering Co., Ltd., and Pountney, r. Dec. 31, 1923. Dynamos, regulating.-A dynamo-electric machine, and particularly a generator employed on a vehicle, has a rotating field-magnet system B with which is combined a regulating device consisting of magnetic arms C pivoted at one end tc the hub B<2> of the rotating mass, and adapted, under the action of centrifugal force, to approach the magnet poles B<3> so as automatically to limit the voltage as the speed rises. Springs C<4> normally tend to keep the arms in the inoperative position, as shown in Fig. 3, so that the magnetic flux passes through the armature core A. As shown in Fig. 5, the arms C occupy an intermediate position and divert a portion of the flux. Specification 180,865 is referred to.
