Abstract

641,614. Machines with permanent magnets. LINDBLAD, K. B. Nov. 17, 1947, No. 30459. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1947. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 19, 1948.] [Class 35] In a variable speed generator, particularly a cycle dynamo, the armature has individual polepieces which are magnetically shunted at higher speeds by centrifugal control, the shunt or shunts moving radially as shown, the rotors armature has a core 7 and four projecting polepieces 14 within polepieces 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the magnet. 1. The shunt comprises weights 22 carried by springs 19 in a support 17 and a magnetic disc 16 fixed to the shaft which does not extend to the vicinity of the armature polepieces. In a modification the turns of a coil spring themselves serve as the shunt. The shunts may co-operate with the polepieces of a stationary armature which surrounds a rotary magnet.
