Magneto-electric machines; brush-holders; commutators. - A current-collecting device for dynamos, particularly such as are used in vehicle-lighting sets, comprises a rotating brush which interconnects two stationary slide bars connected respectively to the armature and consuming circuits for a portion of the cycle of the alternating-current generated. Fig. 1 shows a magneto having a fly-wheel a provided with two magnet poles b, and a stationary armature provided with an ignition winding h and a lighting &c winding g. One terminal of the winding g is earthed and the other terminal is connected to an arcuate slide bar i concentric with the shaft. A second slide bar k is connected to the lighting circuit, and connection between the two bars is effected by a brush m which rotates with the fly-wheel. A centrifugal switch is provided to close the lighting circuit after a certain speed is attained. In a modification, Fig. 2, the slide bars are arranged side by side, and the brush m is carried by a spring-supported arm o in such a way as to act as a centrifugal switch.
