Abstract

214,288. Jones, J. H., Turner, J. L., and O'Keeffe, T. R. Nov. 18, 1922. Homopolar machines; coils; collecting-rings.- A dynamo-electric machine intended to generate or to be operated by continuous current consists of a number of field magnets 2 having radiallydisposed poles 3 extending to each end of the armature, all the poles at each end of the armature being of like polarity, and of an armature comprising a number of coils 20 wound on softiron cores 18 and enclosed in soft-iron tubes 21, the cores terminating in poles 19. The coils are set in a brass drum 11, ventilation holes being provided both in the drum and in the coiltubes 21. The coils are competed to collecting-rings 26 attached by screws 27 to the drum 11 and insulated from it by rings 28. The coils of the field magnets are connected to the brushes. Specifications 85/82 and 1692/82 are referred to.
