Sept. 24, 1934, No. 27392. [Class 35] Polepieces.-The polepieces are tapered from the ends towards the middle or conversely so as to be symmetrical about a line parallel to the axis of the machine, the width of the widest portion exceeding that of the narrowest by twice the armature slot pitch. Fig. 1 shows such a polepiece made by machining a pack of laminae secured by bolts to the shape shown, small horns a being left at the ends to support the coil. Fig. 2 shows a polepiece built up of packs of laminae of different widths, horns a being formed in the middle by introducing a few wide laminae among the narrow.
