Abstract

618,130. Sectional buildings. KEATING, J. B., and WILLIS, C. L,. Oct. 24, 1946, No. 31587. [Class 20(i)] A sectional metal-framed building such as a garage, comprising corner-uprights 10. Fig. 3, and top and bottom horizontal rails. has sheet metal panels 17 connected to the bottom rails 12, on the outside of the vertical flanges thereof, by joggled parts 19. Fig. 4, and connected to the top rails 20, on the inside of the vertical flanges thereof, by bolts 25 which pass through slots arranged transversely to each other, in the panels and rails. The panels are interconnected by U-shaped parts 70. The feet of the uprights 10 are welded to anchoring plates 11, to which the bottom rails 12 are fastened by bolts 14. Intermediate anchoring plates 15 may be provided. End doors built up from sheet metal panels 34 may be hinged to uprights 30. The roof may consist of sheet metal panels 52, Fig. 6, and trusses 44 bolted to the top rails. The panels may be held at their lower ends in clips 23, Fig. 4, and at their upper ends by both clips 51, Fig. 6, and by the ends 59 of a capping piece connected by bolts 60 to a V-section ridge member 50. Plates 61 may be welded to the trusses. Stiffeners 54, bolted to the plates 61, may be provided for stiffening the ridge member. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the clips 51 are replaced by clips which are fastened to the stiffener 54, and which engage with joggled portions on the panels. Gable panels may be welded to the end roof trusses and bolted to the top rails. According to the Provisional Specification the lower edges of the roof panels may engage with the wall panels.
