Abstract

676,852. Hip roofs. UNI-SECO, Ltd. Oct. 4, 1950, No. 24277/50. Class 20(iv). The roof surfaces of a hip roof structure which intersect to form the hips of the roof are supported by the inclined sides 18, 19, 20 of trusses 8, 9, 10, and jack rafters 17, the latter at two opposite sides of the roof being tied by ceiling joists 22. Straining plates 21 join the rafters 17 to the joists 22 which are supported on wall capping plates 7, the latter being secured by blocks 6 to the roof trusses. The trusses 8, 9, 10 are of truncated triangular shape and of varying height, the smallest 8 carrying at its sides hip rafters 27. Fascia strips, not shown, are secured to the ends of the trusses and the jack rafters.
