'[Classes 20(i), 20(ii) and 20 (iv)] A pre-fabricated building is composed of self-contained and self-supporting preformed units, each comprising a floor, walls and internal partition (or partitions), all built up of framed panels, and a roof structure with trusses transverse to the walls, the internal partition(s) running in the same general direction as the side walls. Two end units each have two side walls and one end wall, and there may be an intermediate unit (or units) having side walls only. The frames of the walls may be built up of extruded sections of light metal. The floor, which has a frame of light extruded metal section 24, rests on dwarf walls and supports wooden joists 26 which carry the floor boards. Inverted channels 28, of extruded metal, with one flange 31 offset to leave a space 32 for the inner wall covering 18, support the walls, the frame members 21 forming the lower edges thereof being also inverted channels and fitting over the channels 28, to which they are secured by bolts 40 which pass through both channels and through brackets 42 riveted at 43 to the channels 28 and receiving nuts 41 inside the floor frame. The walls have channels 22 along their upper edges to which are bolted channels 37 which extend from one roof truss to the next. The partitions 14 have channels 29 along their lower edges which fit over rails 33 screwed to the floor, their end uprights are fixed to the floor framing 24 by plates 47, and their upper edges fit into inverted channels forming the roof ridge, and the partitions are also secured to the lower members of the roof truss by angle brackets 50. The joints between the walls are closed by inner and outer strips 56, 57, the former screwed to wooden battens 55 fitting in the inner channels of the double channels 23 and the latter, which are outwardly convex, held by spring clips 58 engaging the edges of the outer flanges of the channels 23. The joints between the roof covering sheets are closed by cover strips fitting over their upturned edges. The units constituting a complete building are joined by connectors wherein a wedge 52a secured to one unit engages a groove 52b in a member secured to the other unit, and a pin 54 is driven through suitable mating holes.
