Abstract

1459022 Prefabricated buildings J PENNECOT 3 April 1974 [12 April 1973] 14872/74 Heading E1A A prefabricated building is erected from walls and partitions of ladder frame construction which are made up from elements of identical thickness and are interconnected to filler wall parts or to frames for doors or windows by an edge connection 11 involving line contact. The walls and partitions L 3 , L' 3 , L' 2 , L 4 may be disposed in a number of layouts as shown for example in Fig. 2 and have any exposed joints blanked off by covers 12, 13. The filler wall ports may consist of a core of polyurethane foam sandwiched between sheets of fibro-cement, aluminium or enamelled sheet metal. The flooring may be secured to metal purlins provided with wooden nailing strips and the roof constituted by trays into which polyurethane foam is poured. The walls and partitions may include service conduits and are interconnected by tubular elements or collars bolted thereto; the walls &c being secured to the foundations by a bolted bracket connection. Again, the uprights and cross-members of the frame element may be made of concrete and connected to other wall parts or frames by mortar joints including for example, an expanding cement.
