Abstract
664,685. Sectional buildings. FRANKLIN-HOWES (ENGINEERS), Ltd., and FAY. T. A. Dec. 2, 1949 [Nov. 23, 1948], No. 30434/48. Classes 20(i) and 20(ii) A sectional building comprises wall and roof sections, each wall section having a flange upon which rests a co-operating flange of a roof section, the flanges preferably being provided by angle irons and adjacent edges of the flanges of the roof and wall sections being secured by hooked bolts, clips &c. As described, each wall section 11 comprises a rectangular frame of angle iron 13, the vertical angle irons of certain sections having one flange in the plane of the section and the other flange 15 directed inwardly and flush with the edges of the sections. Adjacent in-line wall sections are secured together by bolts passing through the adjacent inwardly directed flanges. End and cross wall sections have the vertical angle irons disposed as at 91, Fig. 6, to enable them to be bolted to the vertical angle irons of the other wall sections. The angle iron 19 along the upper edge of the wall sections has one flange 17 vertical and the other 18 horizontal and is arranged to provide a rest for a smaller co-operating angle iron, such as 21, of a roof section. Hooked bolts 31 passing below the flanges 18 and through the covering of the wall sections and secured by a nut hold the wall and roof sections together. Alternatively, clips with springs or clamping screws may be used. The roof sections comprise a framework of prismatic outline consisting of two triangular angle-iron frames 51, 52 joined by struts and braces 25, 53, 55. The member 25 is of angle iron with one flange horizontal to engage the supporting flange of a, wall section and the other flange in the plane of the roof. The vertical faces of two roof sections may be bolted together to form a ridge roof, either before assembly on the previously assembled wall sections or after assembly if the wall structure is such (i.e. two wall sections at a right angle) as to be capable of supporting a single roof section. Doors and windows may be provided in certain wall sections and wall sections may also be used to partition a building. A single roof section and wall section may be used for a single lean-to structure.
