To ensure that forces exerted on a door frame are not absorbed by the wall but by an upper beam of a ceiling structure and may be by the floor, a door frame 1 is of channel section and accommodates the end of the wall 2 (e.g. of foam concrete bricks) the lintel of the door frame being spaced from a ceiling structure 30. the frame being provided at its upper end with metal fastening strips 12, 13 which extend up to the ceiling to which they are attached through being connected to the ends of a wooden beam 15 secured to a beam 18 supporting the ceiling and the wall structure above the door frame and formed by sheets 23 (24) encloses a space 29, wholly or partly between the lintel and ceiling and provides edge grooves to receive the adjacent-wall end portions. The strips 12, 13 are welded to the portions 8, Fig. 4 on each jamb of the frame and have the same width as the wall 2, wooden beams 20, 22 being secured to the strips 12, 13 for attachment of the covering sheets 23 (24) of hardboard, gypsum or fibre board, which are attached also to a beam 21 over the lintel of the frame. Edge regions of the sheets 23, (24) beyond the strips 12, 13 form grooves with these strips to receive the adjacent wall end portions. The recess space formed by the door stop 9, between the jamb portion 7 and the plate 12 accommodates electrical cable conduit 28 from a switch &c., 36 in the wall and which passes through the space 23 to beyond the ceiling 30. In a modification, the strips 12, 13 may be welded at their ends to an upper cross beam of a metal framework of a box-shaped section of the lower ends of the frame to a lower cross beam. In a further modification the upper end portion of each strip 12, 13 may be turned horizontally and secured to the underneath of the beam (15).
