Abstract

The floor or roof structure of a building unit in which the floor and roof structure are detachably secured to end corner uprights is comprised by a frame having a pair of long side beams 10, 11 which may be of metal (for floors) or wood (for roofs) connected together by end bars 22, 23, joists 20 fixed at intervals each with its ends engaging the side beams and clamped thereto by tie rods extending between the side beams intermediate their ends and panels each extending from one side beam to the other and of such a size lengthwise of the frame that from two to eight panels are required to cover the frame, the panels being held down at their transverse edges by means which can be disengaged to free the panels for removal. The panel holding means preferably comprises a strip 36 Fig. 4 engaged with rebates in the upper transverse edges of the panels 28 and secured as by screws to an underlying joist. The panel may be provided with insulation 27 and floor covering material 29.
