Abstract

960,617. Floor and roof frames. CAROMIC & CO. Ltd. July 12, 1962 [May 17, 1961], No. 17963/61. Heading E1V. Frames 1, Fig. 2, in the form of isosceles triangles, are secured together side-by-side with the corners of six adjacent frames meeting at a point to form a lattice serving as a floor or roof supporting structure. The base sides of the frames are aligned, in one direction across the lattice, with the base sides of adjacent frames, and are connected side-by-side with the base sides of the adjacent frames, in the direction at right angles to said one direction. The base of each isosceles triangle may equal its height. Each side of a frame comprises a channel section girder formed by a web 3, Fig. 4, of plywood and flanges 4 which project inwardly of the frame from its upper and lower edges. All components of the frame are held together only by glue. Adjacent frames are secured together by glueing the abutting webs, assisted by bolts 6. Wedge shaped strips 12 may be inserted between facially opposed webs forming the sides and/or the bases of the isosceles triangles to provide a lattice arched about a longitudinal and/or transverse axes. Specially shaped peripheral closure members 11 may be provided. The invention is applicable to a pitched roof structure.
