Abstract

1,126,755. Cavity wall structure. INDUSTRICON (RESEARCH) Ltd. 8 Nov., 1966, No. 49899/66. Heading E1W. A cavity wall structure particularly for a party wall includes a beam 6 having means, such as bolts 7 projecting from opposite vertical side faces to which attachment means 9 such as prejecting bars at the upper edge of each of a spaced pair of lower wall panels 3a are secured, the beam further having laterally projecting support members 12 upon which spaced pairs of upper wall panels 3 are supported by their lower edges. The support members 12 may comprise angle irons bolted to the beam 6. Sound insulating material may be inserted between the spaced panels 3, 3a and mastic strips 17 may be provided between the panels and the beam 6. Floor joists 18 may be inserted and supported between the upper and lower panels 3, 3a. The lower edges of the panels 3, 3a rest on steel shims 15, 10 respectively, applied against the support members 12 and floor 5.
