Abstract

1370473 Ventilating buildings INSTITUTUL DE PROIECTARI AL INDUSTRIEI USOARE 5 Nov 1971 [14 Dec 1970] 51603/71 Heading F4V [Also in Division E1] An energized concrete girder has post tensioned steel reinforcement, e.g. in bores 10 and is adapted to act as ducting for ventilating air. The girder comprises U-section caisson panels 1 provided in their bases with slots 2, and/or round, square or rectangular openings 4 which allow for discharge of air and in which fans may be mounted. In addition further openings 11 are provided on a face formed by the adjacent channel sides of the opposed panels which openings may be formed by a rectangular or circular frame in which an adjustable ventilation grille may be fitted. Apertures 3 may also be provided in the panels 1 in which secondary beams are supported. The caisson panels have projecting reinforcement 8 extending from the edge of their side walls which is overlapped with that of an opposite panel. The joints a between opposite panels 1 and b between adjacent pairs of panels are then concreted and the reinforcement tensioned.
