Abstract

576,387. Walls. CASH, A., and CLARKE, L. April 29, 1944, No. 8095. [Classes 20 (iii), 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] Walls of buildings are constructed of flat slabs or panels 1 having adjacent each side an L- section rib 3 with the flange turned outwardly and a vertical central rib of T-section, the ribs being so arranged that the L-shaped ribs at the adjacent sides of two panels on one side of the wall engage by lateral movement the T-section rib of a panel on the opposite side, as shown. The inside end panels 1a are of reduced width, to end at the T-section ribs, one flange of these ribs engaging a groove in a corner post 4. The last corner post is slid vertically into position, to facilitate which it may be in several lengths. Similar joints are made between the window and door frames 8, 9 and the adjacent outer panels 1b. The panels are supported on a concrete foundation, and precast concrete beading strips are held at the base of the outside panels by strip metal ties (not shown) passing through the joints between the outer panels. The panels may be storey high or less, in the latter case the horizontal joints of the front and back walls being staggered. The panels may be of precast concrete, wood, steel or rolled sheet metal, or a plastic material.
