[Classes 20(ii), 20(iv) and 87(i)] A building comprises spaced uprights 10 having interrupted flanges 11, 12 which are engaged in grooves 29 in the vertical edges of wall slabs 28, one wall of the grooves being correspondingly interrupted at 30 so that it may be engaged with the flange by relative lateral movement followed by a downward movement. In the form shown a hollow wall is provided by inner and outer slabs engaging inner and outer interrupted flanges on the uprights, which are formed of metal strips slit at both edges and having the portions between the slits bent alternately in opposite directions. The lower ends of the uprights straddle channel members 15 secured to the foundation and are slit at 14 to engage over the flanges of these members. Studs 18 secured in the members 15 pass through brackets 19 attached to the lower ends of the uprights. The tops of the uprights are similarly attached to the underside of an upper channel member 16, to which are also secured the lower ends of a second series of uprights for an upper storey. The uprights adjacent the corners are crossbraced by members 23, and similar bracing may be provided between the other uprights. The horizontal edges of the slabs may have V-form grouting grooves 31, and may be inclined to avoid collection of moisture. The inner faces of the slabs may be recessed.
