Abstract

785,787. Walls. BRUCE, R. Jan. 13, 1955 [Nov. 4, 1953], No. 30449/53. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) In building walls formed of pre-formed gypsum panels 18, Fig. 1, which do not require a plaster surface, a bed of gypsum 22 is introduced into an upper floor or roof and into upper cavities formed in the panels and a further bed of gypsum 23 is introduced into the channel 11 of a supporting runner 10 and into lower cavities formed in the panels. As shown the runner 10 is supported on brickwork 12 and an upper runner 14 is secured between the joists 13, the panels 18 being so positioned as to leave a gap between runner 14 and the upper ends of the panels which is equal to the thickness of plasterboard 21 forming the ceiling. The sides of the gap are pointed at 21a and then gypsum is poured through holes 16 in runners 14 so that it penetrates into cavities in the tops of panels 18, passes through grooves in the vertical edges of the panels and enters lower cavities in the panels and the channel 11. A wall may then be formed in the storey above in a similar manner, the lower runners 25 of the upper storey being supported by dwangs 17 which are spaced apart between joints 13 and rest on the runners 14. Each panel 18 has an interior of honeycomb formation, Fig. 3, and along the top and bottom thereof a series of aligned portholes 19 communicate with a series of upper and lower pockets 20 formed by the honeycomb interior.
