Abstract
575,900. Floors. CLARK, C. Jan. 11, 1944, No. 500. [Class 20 (iv)] A floor and ceiling construction comprises intersecting joists 12 forming rectangular openings in which domed panels 10 are supported at all their edges by ledges 13 on the joists &c. shown. the panels are provided with vertical flanges 11 at all edges, the flanges resting on the ledges 13. The joists are preferably a one-piece structure cast in situ, and the panels, which form a domed ceiling, may be precast of fibrous plaster, The spaces below the level of the crown of the panels may be filled with sound-deadening material 14 such as coke breeze or sawdust, which is covered by precast concrete " planks " 17 resting on ledges 19 on the joists and having undercut edges 18 to form dovetail grooves for keying a coat 16 of cement. Alternatively, the cement layer may be applied on top of the filling 14, the planks 17 being omitted.
