Class 20(4) A reinforced concrete ceiling or floor structure includes a number of structural units each comprising a self-supporting girder constituting reinforcement for the concrete or a rafter for the roof respectively and a formwork or roofcovering panel permanently attached to the girder and extending along the length thereof, the panel of each girder abutting or overlapping those of adjacent girders to provide formwork extending as a continuous surface over the whole area of the structure, the girders being entirely surrounded by concrete poured in situ on to the formwork panels. As shown in Figs. 1 and 5, wood, wood-fibre or metal panels 3 are attached to the lower chords 2<SP>1</SP> of self-supporting lattice girders 1, a space 4 being left between the chords and the upper faces of the panels so that the girders may be surrounded by concrete 5; the panels are provided with interengaging tongues and grooves 6, 7. Plates for heat-insulating purposes, or translucent covers for indirect lighting effects are suspended by pins passing between the panels, or suspension means are screwed into wooden ribs of dovetail shape interposed between the panels. Hollow blocks 14 for incorporation in a ceiling or floor are supported between adjacent girders. The lower chords 2<SP>1</SP> of each girder may be located in a continuous common groove or separate grooves 15<SP>1</SP>. Figs. 8, 9, partially or completely filled with concrete 16; girders without chords have the web members 2<SP>11</SP> thereof embedded in concretecontaining recesses. The ceilings or floors may have radiation protecting means in the form of foil between the panels and the concrete, and protective plates above the girders, or radio-active absorbing powder or grains are mixed in the concrete 5. In the case of a roof, the panels 2, 3, Fig. 13, may be of corrugated asbestos-cement, the lower chords of the girders being embedded in concrete 16, or flat, overlapping panels 27, Fig. 15, are used the chords 2<SP>1</SP> of the girders being embedded in concrete ribs 28.
