Abstract

973,692. Walls, ceilings, and pillars; building boards; supporting shuttering. J. A. PUMFREY. Jan. 27, 1961 [Jan. 28, 1960], No. 3039/60. Headings E1B, E1S and E1V. A wall, ceiling, or pillar is faced with sheets 26 provided with metal spacing members 13 which are fastened to reinforcing rods 29 lying in a concrete core, the sheets being supported by temporary struts 27, 28. The facing sheets which may be waterproofed with roofing felt or impregnated board on their surfaces adjacent the concrete, are of plasterboard and may have a fibrous honeycomb core. As shown, the rods 29 fit into recesses 21 in the spacing members 13 which, as shown, are of channel section or may be of V or U-section. In a ceiling the reinforcing rods overlap each other to form a lattice and the ceiling is supported during casting by temporary channel and I-sectioned girders laid on props. When the spacing members 13 are applied to pillars, members meeting at right angles are braced by stays passing through keying holes 23 and lying across the corner.
