Abstract

835,003. Building slabs; walls. LAWRENCE, S. G. June 4, 1956 [June 3, 1955], No. 15912/55. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) A concrete slab 1 is faced with perforated metal plates 6, 7 and is grooved along two adjacent edges 4, 5. The metal plates project beyond the other two edges to form tongues 12, 13. The plates are secured together by metal spacers extending through the slab. The interlocked slabs are assembled in staggered vertical rows, Fig. 5, by means of hooked dowels 22 engaging in recesses 21, 27 in the grooved edges of the slabs. Vertical rods 24 extend between the vertical rows of slabs, and a tie rod extends along the groove 4 of the topmost slabs. The end slabs of a series engage in metal channels 23 and are fixed to a wall 18 by tie bolts 16 each anchored at one end in a recess 21 and bolted at its other end to a bracket 19 which in turn is bolted to the wall. The upper and lower edges of the assembly also fit in channels secured to the ceiling and floor respectively by metal ties and expanding bolts.
