Abstract
538,091. Temporary buildings. DYKE, H. G. Jan. 12, 1940, Nos. 755 and 7998. [Classes 20 (i) and 20 (iv)] Temporary buildings are constructed with walls formed of preformed slabs which lie between separate spaced studs and are clamped at their edges and connected to the studs by opposed cover plates connected together by bolts or the like. As shown in Fig. 1, separate slabs A, A<SP>1</SP> are used on each side of the wall with raised abutting edgesurfaces to form a hollow between them, and are disposed between I - section studs B, their edges being clamped by opposed: cover plates D bolted to each other so that the slabs are also clamped to the studs. The bolts pass through the spaces. between the edges of the slabs and the studs. The studs may be of reinforced concrete and in case where the thickness of the studs exceeds the thickness of the slabs, the cover plates are of channel section: The slabs have upwardly projecting ridges G, Fig. 3, to engage corresponding recesses H in the horizontal edges of the adjacent slabs, and. are stiffened on the inner faces by ribs K. The slabs may be formed hollow in one piece. Dry strip packing F may be usedbetween. the abutting portions of the slabs and between the slabs and the cover plates. The lowest course of ,slabs may be filled with cement filling to strengthen this course. Specifications 161,677, [Class 20 (i)], and 21191/90 [Class 20] are referred to.
